Job Title: Furnace Operator (Night Shift)
Location: Lye
Shift Patterns: Monday – Thursday 17:00 – 05:00
We are seeking an experienced Furnace Operator who is looking for a long-term permanent role! Join a well-established and growing foundry that truly puts its people first. Responsibilities:
- Operate a medium frequency, electric induction furnace – turn on and operate and control power input
- Safely operate hydraulic systems to tilt and pour from a furnace
- Understands the basic arrangement of a furnace body
- Understand what earth leakage is
- Understand what emergency water is for
- Charge furnace – safely charge or add materials to furnaces
- Remove slag from the furnace before testing and pouring
- Casting – pouring moulds and/or operating OHC
- Understand additions and can calculate the additions required
- Understand energy requirements to melt metal – power Kilowatts, frequency and volts
- Frit furnace refractory
- Install and repair refractories
- Monitor wear and lining performance
Qualification/experience:
- Electric Induction Furnace Operating
- Casting experience is preferred but not necessary
- FLT Licence / experience is preferred
- Overhead Crane experience is required
